Solar is one of the cheapest energy sources available, with a Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCoE) of around $0.04 including storage. Moreover, solar is decentralised, saving costs on grid infrastructure. Solar with storage can provide 24-hour clean electricity to power homes, business, clean and quiet transport and global connectivity. Stable electricity access can improve productivity, education, health care, and female emancipation worldwide.
However, 85% of people live on less than $30 a day, and installing solar requires financing the entire system upfront. For an average household that can cost around $6,000. Many households worldwide simply do not have such capital at their disposal. Undercapitalisation is the single biggest hurdle halting solar electrification and a just energy transition.
Joining is easy, the user signs up, gets solar installed on location, starts paying their electricity bills on a per-use basis, and gradually repays their credit, in addition to earning income from selling power to the grid!
